Email is the most efficient way for the school to contact parents. If you know someone who has not been receiving messages, either from a classroom teacher or from the Anchorage Webmaster, please ask that person to contact the Communications Coordinator, Karen Steltenpohl, at email@example.com to let her know so that we can get all families up-to-date on our email system. If your email address changes during the school year, please let Karen or the front office know.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Infinite Campus Parent Portal allows parents to stay up to date on grades, assignments (both due and missing), attendance announcements, schedules and more. Available for students is the Infinite Campus Student Portal. Campus Portals help you manage everything with 24/7 access to real-time information. The Portals display what is currently happening in the classroom so students and parents can understand, monitor, and participate in the educational process. Mid-term report cards will not be sent home, but are available on IC. Both apps are available for download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
If you have not yet set up your IC Portal and need help doing so, please contact Communications Coordinator, Karen Steltenpohl, at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will assist you in setting up your portal account.
Anchorage Public School Website
Our website, https://anchorage-school.org/, is the hub of information pertaining to the school. News articles, links to teacher webpages, staff email address links, sports schedules, lunch menu, School Board and Council news – this is the center of communications. If you want to receive notices as items are posted to the website, then you may subscribe to the website by clicking “Follow” at the bottom right of the homepage. Don’t want to have to go to the internet to access the website all the time? Don’t worry – we have an app for that!
Anchorage Public School App
Download our free school app by searching Anchorage Public School in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The app, created by two Anchorage Alumni, provides a tool for students, families, and teachers to easily access Infinite Campus as well as the school’s website, lunch menu, email, calendar of events and sports schedules.

REACH Alerts: Severe Weather/Emergency Status/School Closing
In the case of severe weather, emergency status or unexpected closings, delays and dismissals the superintendent will enable the REACH Alert System that sends school alerts via text messages, phone calls (cell or landline) and/or emails.
To register for REACH Alert, simply follow the following steps:
- Go to reachalert.com and click on MY ACCOUNT and then select CREATE ACCOUNT to establish your initial account.
- Follow the prompts.
- When prompted for Network Name, enter Anchorage School and click on the school name when it appears in the dropdown list.
- When prompted for a role, select parent.
- Be sure to select to receive “alerts”. Individuals only registering to receive “Reminders” will not receive school closing information.
- Upon joining the school network you may also want to click on JOIN and select the City of Anchorage network.
If you opted to receive text alerts, REACH Alert will send a text message to your cell phone immediately upon completion of your registration. Please enter the 4-digit number on the registration screen and then click the word VALIDATE. If you do not receive this message, please call REACH Alert at (877) 307-9313 for assistance. After you have completed the registration process, you may add other phone numbers and email addresses. From your dashboard page, click on the second tab at the top of the page – CONTACT INFO. From this page you will see where you can add and delete numbers and addresses.
If you already have registered for REACH Alert through the City of Anchorage, your place of employment, child care center, another school, or any other organization you can skip the registration process and simply go to www.reachalert.com and login to your current account and click on JOIN NETWORK on the right side of your dashboard page. Enter Anchorage School and click on our name in the dropdown list and follow the prompts.
Official announcements for school closing may also be heard over WHAS radio and local TV stations. Listen for Anchorage Public School information. It is important to remember that Anchorage School does not follow Jefferson County’s decisions on school closings.
On Monday, September 16, 2019, APS will send out a “test” message via REACH Alert in order that parents will know if they have registered correctly to receive APS alerts. If you believe you are registered and do not receive the test message on September 16 please email email@example.com for assistance.
