Hannah Barnes Elected as KSBA Fifth Region Chairperson

Congratulations to Anchorage Independent School Board Member, Hannah Barnes, who was elected to serve as the Regional Chairperson for the Fifth Region of the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA).  As a part of her duties, Dr. Barnes will serve as a member of the KSBA Board and as a member of select state committees.  Dr. Barnes was elected at the KSBA Fall Regional Meeting hosted by the Eminence Independent School District on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.  Dr. Barnes will serve a three-year term in her new role, beginning on January 1, 2020.

Dr. Barnes lives on Valley View Road with her husband, Brian, and their three children (pre-school, 2nd grade and 7th grade). She attended public school K-12 in Wyoming, then earned a B.S. in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Maine and a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Barnes has a wealth of experience volunteering in the non-profit educational sector and our school district is pleased that she will be a voice for our region and Kentucky public independent school districts on the KSBA Board as they set legislative priorities, design training opportunities for board members, and work to improve services for Kentucky public school districts.
